The first days of my gap year
Days 1-6
Every adventure begins with a journey. My journey began on 29.08 at Frankfurt Airport for the first time really flying alone and then also to a distant country for a year that I had not visited once before, but only heard of and here mostly only stereotypical things. So that's how it starts and already the first difficulties at the airport where is my gate is this really the right plane and am I really ready for it. But after a short consideration and the certain that it is now too late to turn back anyway, we took the first plane from Frankfurt to Delhi and I have to honestly say that the flight was much more relaxed than I had imagined it in my mind before, legroom, a relaxed climate and a good series on Netflix. So I landed after a good 8 hours flight and an hour of sleep at the airport of Delhi. My first thoughts were anticipation of what was to come. But this initial intusiasm was not to last long, because I'll tell you what it's like to be alone at a foreign airport and not knowing where to go and what to do is a stressful fate. so I worked my way through visa acceptance and luggage return until I was finally reunited with a few volunteers at the security check after a good 2 hours and thought it couldn't get any more stressful. But thinking wrong: security checks in India are one thing. There are soldiers with the fiercest facial features and scan you from top to bottom and I have to say fairly, I have rarely sweated as much as in this momment. But how could it be otherwise, I was let through a good 10min and 20 questions and the journey took its course. From Delhi we went to Coimbatore, the second largest city of Tamil Nadu, with another 4h flight. On this flight I met an old lady from Switzerland, she was like almost everyone else very taken with what I'm doing here and has given me unlied courage for 2 hours and that it will be the best year of my life, "well, we'll see what's in store for me," I replied, so I went off the plane with the motivating words of the woman with a very broad chest to start my journey. After my arrival I was well taken care of, I went by car to my accommodation and oh wow the school did not let itself be lumpen. Normally you expect an apartment and just a room, but you think wrong: Leo lives in a house. Yes, I couldn't believe it at the beginning, just a two-storey house with kitchen, bathroom, living room etc just a dream. The only thing that pulls the mood down a bit is to be alone in this house and on the spot A huge thank you to the German visa system, because the girl who would actually live and teach with me here could not come in time due to a delay of her visa. So that's how I saw it, or rather, I'm sitting alone in a huge house in India for another two weeks. But what better way to distract than with good Indian food. So I ordered what was probably the hottest chicken wings and regretted it right away, I tell you, I think I've never drunk so much milk at once, but it was still delicious.
